EVM error: ERC-20 transfer exceeds balance
The token contract rejected the transfer because the sending address holds less than the amount requested — often because a fee-on-transfer token deducts its cut first.
Why it happens
- The balance changed after the transaction was built (another pending transaction spent it).
- The token takes a transfer fee, so the contract receives less than the amount sent and the inner check fails.
- You are sending the whole balance but the amount includes the fee.
- Wrong token selected in the interface — symbol collisions are common.
How to fix it
- Refresh the balance and rebuild the transaction with the current amount.
- For fee-on-transfer tokens leave 1–3% headroom.
- Verify the token contract address, not just its ticker.
